The 2008 Edition of Jacket Regiment will
present "1894"
The year was 1894...Coca Cola was sold in bottles for the
first time; Labor Day became a national holiday. America was making
progress. The paths of persistence were laying the foundation
for travel into the new frontier. The "Wild West" was
quickly becoming a myth. Still, the true voice of freedom could be
heard in the neighing of America's horse - the spirit of the Mustang
thundered across the vast landscape. The wild heart of the Mustang
refused to be tamed. Proud and noble, its thundering hooves beat
fiercely across the plains. "E
Pluribus Unum"..."Out of many, one." As progress moved
across the continent, the frontier lands became a clash of cultures.
The Native Americans - proud and fierce, like the Mustang - defended
their lands. It took time to overcome the scars, but the spirit of
the American West refused to surrender. The drum beats tell the
story. Now the cowboy's voice is
quiet, the Indian still seeks freedom, the Mustang roams the landscape in
smaller numbers, but the Pioneer Spirit still remains...we have learned
from the past. America, the beautiful; America, the land of the proud
and the free; America, the dream of the New World, the Land of Opportunity
- westward lies the way. Listen to the dream of the West.
